Boycott Lovely

Having a glass (or two) of vino  with my good friend B last night we decided that describing someone as "lovely" is unacceptable.  What does lovely mean anyway.  I am of English decent and sort of speak the language but I don't think that qualifies me to use the word lovely.   My other friend Gord hates being called nice, I get that too.  Can't we think of other words with more imagination to describe people.  What about alluring, beauteous, enchanting, engaging anything but lovely or nice.  The thing is I honestly don't think that anyone has ever described me as lovely, and I am fine with that!

I declare a boycott on lovely.

Here’s the thing..the word lovely immediately implies a distance between you and the person you are describing. You like the person, but you don’t really know them. In fact, you’re not even sure you want to try, because there’s an element of “blandness” that is associated with lovely and nice, for that matter. If you really like someone, you will at least try to describe them with more exciting words… Love the ones you came up wth Tara!! Hooray for the ban!!!:-) LOVE THE BLOG by the way….
